AMYGDALIN (B17) CANCER THERAPY Amygdalin is a compound found abundantly within the seeds of non-citrus fruits and most commercially prepared amygdalin is extracted from the apricot. Amygdalin is composed of two molecules of glucose (a sugar), one molecule of benzaldehyde (an analgesic) and one molecule of hydrocyanide (an anti-neoplastic compound). In metabolic therapy, the amygdalin is broken down into its component parts as a result of the action of the enzyme beta-glucosidase. This enzyme is found in abundance in cancer cells, and is relatively deficient in normal cells. Consequently, the cyanide is released where there is active cancer. The liberation of cyanide under controlled and safe conditions insures that an adequate dosage can be administered without the threat of toxic effects to normal healthy cells. The absence of cyanide toxicity to normal cells is further insured by the action of rhodanese, another enzyme found within healthy cells that acts to detoxify or convert free hydrocyanide in the presence of sodium thiosulfate to sodium thiocyanate which is then excreted in the urine. A study conducted by Harold Manner PH.D at Loyola University showed that in experimental animals tumors underwent complete remission in 75% of experimental animals, the remaining animals showed partial remission. The non-toxicity of amygdalin has been demonstrated in laboratory studies. Manner repeated the experiment with different combination of vitamins and enzymes and found that amygdalin alone has no appreciable effect, however combined with enzymes and Vitamin A, amygdalin showed significant effectiveness. These therapies are used extensively in Mexico cancer clinics with good success. There are no known contraindications to the use of amygdalin along with surgery, radiation, and chemotherapy.(Manner 1985) VitaminA acts to enhance the immune system, and has been shown to decrease tumor growth and increase survival time in laboratory animals. Enzymes (Wobe-Mugos) have been shown to aid in the breaking down and digestion of hard tumors, and when tumors alone are injected with the enzymes 40% showed positive regression.(Hoefer-Janker 1971) For more in depth information look at "The Death of Cancer by Harold Manner".
